How Deep IS Your Love?

Let every room you’re in be consumed with love. Let every room you leave exude the love of those that are in your presence. Allow others to give you love. Love is often said without action.

Love: An intense feeling of deep affection. A person or thing that one loves.

Everything that God does flows from his love. It was often demonstrated. How deep is your love?

Is it conditional based on the love reciprocated from another? Regardless of your relationship status, it should exist always. Love is a prerequisite to any valuable relationship. It’s easy to treat others like they may have treated you. Does it make it right? Your feelings may say yes. However, it doesn’t mean that it is. Have you considered that some people just don’t know how to properly love? Someone in a love deficit projects their hatred and lack thereof based on their own experiences.

One of the biggest commandments is to love neighbor as you love yourself, with a major prerequisite to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30-31). If we love others based on conditions, we will get it wrong. Every time. Those “shout outs” to your “haters” are actually undiscovered love. It’s immaturity. I’ve been guilty of it also. It’s easy to defend ourselves when we are mistreated. I think that’s one of the major reasons why it’s stressed to love. It’s major. Love unlocks unforgiveness.

I’m often asked, “How you manage to hold a smile after all that you been through?” I knew that the abuse wasn’t all of my existence. It showed me the greatest love of all. Not on a “self-love” discovery, but how God loved in spite and despite everything. His demonstration made my love more powerful. I didn’t want to be on a petty patrol. Clapping back at every person that barked at me (Although sometimes I can get weak) wasn’t real satisfaction. Again, it was stressed to not seek revenge or hold grudges among your people (family and friends included), love your neighbor as yourself. He is the Lord (Leviticus 19:18).

Imagine if we all demonstrated love like God. His love walk was tested beyond any measure of our own. Is it possible to extend our own hands of grace and mercy for the sake of showing real light in a dark world? Could we use our voices to speak up on injustices based on hatred?

We all had a time where we may not have been lovable. But there was someone that demonstrated a little more patience. A little more grace. A little more mercy. This season is a time to spring forward literally. #FirstOfAll real fruit bears to love and the fruit of the Spirit thereafter.
